THE NOCTURNAL CITY

To commence the journey of the magazine, the first issue goes beyond the material tangibility that an urban-centric magazine typically would use as a starting point. The inaugural edition lets the darkness take center stage, as we aim to make way for a neglected dimension of urban culture.   The darkness and the night is a foundational element of many urban spaces and comprises a rich complexity. Looking at the city through the nocturnal lens thus recognizes the nights as an interesting source of life where both individual and collective formations are created in relation to the city.  The nighttime is a multifaceted period in which multiple nocturnal stakeholders define urban identities and create a significant impact to socio-cultural life and urban fabric of cities. We invite anyone to interpret the theme as they find interesting, and hope to see a lot of inspiring submissions!
